Answer 118: Geography & Nature -- BYUtah
c) Provo
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints founded the school as Brigham Young Academy in 1875.
This answer is incorrect. Brigham Young Academy was not founded by the LDS Church, but was a private school supported by the community until the turn of the century, when the LDS Church responded to pleas to fund the school. In 1903 BYA was dissolved, and was replaced by two successor organizations: Brigham Young High School, and Brigham Young University.
Technically you may be right (about the extra info, that is; the question and answer are fine), but Brigham Young was the president of the church when he bought the school in 1875. He told his sons, "I hope to see an Academy established in Provo... at which the children of the Latter-day Saints can receive a good education unmixed with the pernicious atheistic influences that are found in so many of the higher schools of the country."
